The idea for Philip Youles Motorcycles was born on the 25th of May, 1985. I remember the day exactly - it was the day after I left school. In between lessons I had been trading from home in used motorbike spares and had spotted the opportunity to build a business out of what was basically a hobby. I started small, renting a unit in Friendship Mill near Burnley and quickly found that the business was growing and I needed to move to larger premises in Accrington. Within a few years I had expanded with the MZ franchise, developed a successful used bike business, added the Piaggio scooter franchise and opened our first showrooms on Bury New Road in Salford in 2000
